Each material release of the Football Club Ownership Transaction Ledger is recorded here. The ledger remains the current source of truth; this page explains when it was reviewed and why the data changed.

Ledger release history

  1. Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and Saudi Arabia review added

    The ledger now contains 348 sourced ownership and investment events after a review of Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and Saudi Arabia. The release adds 36 control, capital, strategic-ownership and privatisation transfers across the four countries, with reported funding kept distinct from acquisition consideration.

  2. Portugal, Poland, Czech Republic and Netherlands review added

    The ledger now contains 312 sourced ownership and investment events after a review of Portugal, Poland, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands. The release adds 33 control, minority-investment, recapitalisation and ownership-restructuring records, while retaining transaction structure and evidence grade.

  3. Spain, Italy and France review added

    The ledger now contains 279 sourced ownership and investment events after a Spain, Italy and France review. The release adds 36 ownership, recapitalisation, restart and control events, with transaction structures and evidence grades retained rather than collapsed into headline prices.

  4. England and Germany review added

    The ledger now contains 243 sourced ownership and investment events after a review of England, the EFL and Germany. The release includes Al-Hilal and 24 additional English and German ownership, capital and control events.

  5. Current ledger edition published

    The current edition contains 218 sourced ownership and investment events. This release incorporates the latest reviewed additions, source upgrades and economics corrections.

  6. Historic transaction review

    Historic ownership records and reported economics were checked against improved primary and high-quality reporting, with particular attention to the distinction between purchase consideration, debt and later funding.

  7. Range extended and source review completed

    The public ledger was extended with older ownership events and a further review of existing records, preserving the original source trail and evidence grade for every transaction.
